Who said the Arizona landscape was just dry, brown and had no color? It’s Springtime in Arizona and that means even the desert surrounding Phoenix is coming to life with many different flowers of all colors blooming all over. I captured these images last night, just before sunset, at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in North Scottsdale. Enjoy!
Although living less than 5 minutes away, I had not been there in a while and so this evening I decided to go check out the flower blooming situation in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, once again only armed with my beloved iPhone6+
2015 has started with a bang as most of Arizona, including the Phoenix area were blanketed with some white stuff on the first day of the year. It was a record cold start to the new year as Phoenix temperatures topped out at 46 degrees Thursday afternoon. The previous record cold high temperature was 47 degrees, set back in 1906!!!… Who said it was always hot in the Valley of the Sun??
Anyway, I decided to take the Jeep and go for a ride to look for the white stuff… It didn’t take me long!… Below are my first images captured in 2015 in the North Scottsdale / Carefree area on this January 1, 2015 (you can click on individual image to view larger):
A couple of weeks ago, on a sunny (but not too warm) Saturday afternoon, I had the pleasure of doing a photo session for my tennis friend Ray and his girlfriend Berlinda at the DC Ranch Marketplace in North Scottsdale.
Although it is often very crowded with many other local photographers at this time of the year, DC Ranch Marketplace is possibly my favorite location for portrait sessions. There’s an endless choice of settings, backgrounds and architectural features that allow for plenty of creativity and visual delights. Beside, it’s almost walking distance from my studio and makes for a very convenient outdoor nearby location so you can imagine how happy I was when Berlinda requested this location for their session!!!
Here’s a peek at a few captured moments…
